SOUND BATH EXPERIENCE
WITH SOUND MIRROR
Friday 12th June
Doors Open: 7:30pm
Sound Bath Starts: 8:00pm
An evening of deep, sensory relaxation.
Whether you've been to dozens of sound baths or none at all, you may be curious about what makes this experience different.
Curious about the science?
Many parents and caregivers spend their days in a state of sensory overload. Children's voices are designed to capture our attention, and modern life rarely gives our nervous systems a chance to fully switch off.
I've written more about why this happens — and how intentional sound can help.

Whether you've never been to a sound bath before, or you've experienced one elsewhere, this session offers a unique approach to relaxation through immersive sound.
Blending live instruments, electronic soundscapes and carefully composed sonic environments, the experience is designed to support deep rest and nervous system regulation (the systems connected to stress, breath, heart rate and your body's sense of safety and relaxation).
You don't need any experience, flexibility or meditation practice. Simply find a comfortable position, listen, and allow yourself an hour away from the usual demands of everyday life.
-
Most of the session is experienced lying down comfortably on your yoga mat with your eyes closed.
Over the course of the evening you can expect:
A gentle arrival to help you settle into the space
Simple breath and body awareness practices to help shift attention away from the a busy day
Immersive soundscapes combining live instruments, electronic textures and carefully composed ambient music
Sounds including singing bowls, quartz bowls, gong, percussion and resonant frequencies
Opportunities for rest, reflection and deep listening
A gradual return to wakeful awareness before the session closes
No previous experience is needed, and there's nothing to ‘get right’. Many people drift up and down naturally between focused listening, daydreaming, meditation-like states and deep relaxation or into sleep.
-
A yoga mat (some mats will be provided, but if you have your own, please feel free to bring it along)
A light blanket and/or pillow from home
A cushion for extra support under your knees or lower back
Warm layers or socks, as body temperature can drop slightly during deep relaxation
Water
A notebook if you'd like to capture any reflections afterwards
The more physically supported and comfortable you feel, the easier it is to settle into the experience.
-
This element is always optional and offered with clear consent. There is never any expectation to participate, and you can opt in or out discreetly at any time.
Some sessions include the opportunity to receive gentle the one-to-one sound and resonance work I’ve developed using singing bowls, tuning forks and light touch. This can involve instruments being placed on or around the body (head, solar plexus), or brief contact around areas such as the shoulders or head to help guide vibration and awareness through the body.
Many people find these resonance techniques allowing sound to be experienced not only through listening, but also through gentle vibration and physical sensation.
-
Sound baths are generally very gentle and accessible. However, it's worth checking with your healthcare professional before attending if you:
Have epilepsy
Have severe sound sensitivity
Have recently been experiencing acute mental distress
Are under 12 weeks pregnant and have concerns
If you have any other health conditions, injuries or questions you'd like to discuss, please feel free to get in touch.

Everyone experiences it differently, but people often describe feeling:
deeply relaxed
experience deeper sleep, more REM sleep
mentally quieter
emotionally lighter
physically calmer
creatively reset
refreshed afterwards
You may notice moments where time feels stretched, your body feels heavy or floaty, or your thoughts become less urgent.
It’s less about “escaping reality” and more about giving your nervous system a chance to soften for a while.
-
Not at all.
You don’t need to “clear your mind” or do anything perfectly. The sound gives your attention somewhere to land, which often makes it easier than traditional meditation.
Some people drift deeply inward. Some stay awake the whole time. Some simply enjoy lying still and listening. All of it is valid.
-
Not in a dogmatic way.
My sessions are grounded in sound, atmosphere, attention and sensory experience rather than belief systems. You’re welcome whether you’re deeply spiritual, deeply sceptical, or just curious and tired.
-
People often leave feeling calmer, clearer and more grounded, though sometimes the effects are subtle and continue to unfold over the following hours or days.
If possible, give yourself a little space afterwards. Drink water, take a gentle walk, and avoid rushing straight back into screens, emails or noise if you can.
You may also find it helpful to jot down a few notes, journal, or record a voice note if any thoughts, images or insights arose during the session that you'd like to revisit later.
That said, there is no need to analyse the experience. A meditation teacher put it brilliantly, "There's no need to pick through the rubbish bin once you've taken it out." Sometimes the most valuable thing is simply allowing the experience to settle in its own time.
About Sound Mirror
I’m Angela. I'm a composer, sound practitioner and founder of Sound Mirror, creating immersive sound experiences that support rest, coherance and connection through listening.
Alongside public sound baths and retreats, I work one-to-one and with groups of all ages, creating experiences for adults, children, families, schools, workplaces and wellbeing spaces.
My approach combines live ceremonial instruments, electronic soundscapes, resonance techniques and sensory awareness practices, drawing on both contemporary immersive audio and Eastern holistic traditions.
More recently, I've been working with Lifesize within music classes at a Special Educational Needs (SEN) school, exploring creativity, building self-confidence and how sound can support nervous system regulation and emotional expression and connection for children.
If you're curious about individual sessions, family experiences, or how this work might support you or your child, I'd be happy to chat after the session or hear from you via email.
