FLOATING SOUND ☵
WEIGHTLESS SENSORY SOUND BATH

Float on water for a one-hour sensory journey of Sound and stillness.

Composer & Sound therapist Angela blends electronic textures with the resonant power of gongs and bowls, guiding you toward a connection with the prelingual, primal self — a space where emotion is felt beyond words.

Floating Sound ☵ (water): Weightless Sound Bath by SOUND MIRROR

Drawing on music theory, psychological frameworks, and Eastern holistic practices, each session is designed to feel like a massage for your nervous system. Expect a unique combination of bowl-to-body resonance, spatial audio design and scent, creating an intentional sensoryscape that envelops and restores.

Water carrying sonic vibration

Quiet your mind through guided meditation, and soften physical tension by releasing into supported rest just above sleep, just below waking.

Giving you space to slow down. Permission to turn off thought loops, patterns, and let go of time into a weightless hypnogogic dreamstate.

This event is exclusively for guests staying at Mason & Fifth. To RSVP please submit the email address that you used when booking and use the mobile app.

What is a hypnogogic dreamstate? Is it safe?

The hypnogogic state is the deeply relaxed, liminal space which you move between every morning and evening. The blurry line between waking and sleep, where you will be aware of your surroundings with full control of your body and senses.

In this relaxed state, combined with guided meditation, it’s easier to let go of stress and into a more peaceful mindset as your brain shifts from waking active speed to slower alpha and theta waves. A state more open, creative and can bring clarity, introspection and emotional release.

How do Hypnogogic Soundscapes work?

SOUND MIRROR composes electronic soundscapes that blur the boundary between music and silence. Not focused on melody or song, but instead on encouraging entrainment, the natural brain response to follow rhythms, guided intentionally, through drones and moving through different sonic frequencies.

These sounds don’t demand your attention, but instead encourage a soft gaze as they gently guide you inward just like it does before sleep.

What are the benefits of floating on water for physical tension and sleep?

Your body is supported on water without the firm resistance of lying on a yoga mat on the floor. This allows muscles to relax more deeply than they would lying on a mat. The gentle sway in the water mimics a rocking motion (vestibular stimulation research shows improved deep sleep and memory function) a nurturing sensory experience associated with being rocked as a baby.

This can calm the nervous system and release stored physical tension and is perfect for lower back pain or those with physical aches.
